Fiesta Bowl Charities has officially opened its 2018-19 grant cycle application period for Arizona nonprofits to submit applications for funding.
Organizations can submit their application through the Fiesta Bowl website from now until May 7 at 5:00 p.m.
The Fiesta Bowl organization donates more in charitable giving than any other college football bowl game and this season will build on the $10 million given to over 250 Arizona nonprofits in the last seven years. From the nearly 400 applications submitted in 2017-18, Fiesta Bowl Charities gave a record $2.5 million to 67 nonprofits.
“We encourage Arizona nonprofits to apply for our 2018-19 grant cycle,” said Steve Leach, Chair of the Fiesta Bowl Board of Directors. “We are very proud of the record level funding we have achieved which is higher than any other college football bowl organization. Making a positive impact on the Arizona community is extremely to our entire organization.”
Fiesta Bowl Charities will accept proposals that will provide services in its core pillars of youth, sports and education. All applicants must be an Arizona 501(c)(3) organization and 100 percent of the organization’s project must serve residents within the Arizona geographic boundaries. Tips and guidelines for submitting proposals can be found here.
Organizations may submit one application for a Program Grant, requesting $99,999 and under, or the Spirit of the Fiesta Bowl Grant, requesting $100,000 and over. All Spirit of the Fiesta Bowl Grant applicants are subject to presentations during the months of July or August. Grant notifications will be delivered in August.
“Over the years, we have seen our funds in action through new playgrounds, programs and resources, which has been incredible to see,” said Mike Nealy, Executive Director of the Fiesta Bowl. “Last year alone, nearly one million people directly benefitted from our funding, 279,719 meals were served and 249,588 students were impacted through improved education, among many other things.”
Each application will be individually reviewed by the Fiesta Bowl Charities Charitable Giving Committee. The Fiesta Bowl Charities Charitable Giving Committee is a 21-person group comprised of the Fiesta Bowl Board of Directors, Yellow Jacket Committee members, Ambassadors and staff.
In addition to the charitable organizations who receive funding, the Fiesta Bowl Wishes for Teachers program strives to impact teachers across Arizona through $5,000 grants. During the program’s first two years, 240 teachers received a $5,000 grant to directly benefit students and classrooms. Applications for the 2018-19 program will open in mid-September.
Through its two annual bowl games in the Valley, the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl and the Cactus Bowl, as well as community events throughout the year, the Fiesta Bowl strives to enhance organizations across the state, inspiring pride in all Arizonians.
