The City of Prescott and their contractor, Fann Contracting, Inc., are currently repairing the Granite Creek Dam at Watson Lake. The proposed improvements to the dam will stabilize the existing 48-inch non-working valve with concrete, and remove and replace the leaking 36-inch valve, allowing the City to safely drain water for downstream management, and extend the life of the valve into the foreseeable future. Phase I of construction will begin on Monday, April 23, and is scheduled to be completed by the Memorial Day Holiday. Phase II of the project will begin in fall 2018.
GRANITE CREEK DAM VALVE REPAIRS SIGNIFICANTLY COMPLETE
The City of Prescott and their contractor, Wood, have reached significant completion on the first phase of the Granite Creek Dam Outlet Rehabilitation Project. Project improvements included the stabilization of the 48-inch non-working valve with concrete and the installation of a gate over the entrance of the leaking 36-inch valve to stop the flow. These improvements have successfully allowed the City to safely drain water for downstream management and have prepared the 36-inch valve to be replaced during phase two of this project, which is scheduled to begin in fall 2018.
The City is proud to bring improvements such as this to the Prescott Community and appreciate your support as our crews have worked to complete the project.
