Slightly over a year ago — May 10, 2017 — Findlay Auto Group purchased four dealerships that earlier belonged to Tim’s Auto Group in Prescott.
As of late April, the Hyundai brand was closed.
Now, Findlay has only three dealerships — Buick GMC, Toyota and Subaru.
The decision was based on economics, said Jamaal McCoy, Findlay executive. He said the company had decided to focus on the remaining three leaderships.
One brand, Subaru, will move into a new multi-million dollar facility in October.
Dave “Mac” Macfarlane, General Manager of the Subaru dealership, explained when the original purchase occurred, Hyundai was part of the four-dealership bundle that Tim’s sold to Finlay.
Macfarlane said the now vacated Hyundai building is being used as a temporary sales and service facility for Subaru until the new multi-million-dollar, 25,000-square-foot location is completed.
He emphasized that those who wanted their Hyundai vehicles serviced could still do so at the former facility.
No Hyundai employees were terminated.
