Local Non-Profit Organizes Victory Garden Campaign

The Prescott based, Make 100 Healthy Foundation, announced today that it is launching a major campaign designed to help as many as one million Americans start their own Victory Garden over the next five years.  The idea of a Victory Garden comes from the first and second World Wars when everyday Americans helped contribute to the war effort by growing some of their own food, thus allowing farmers to provide supplies to the troops fighting overseas.

In keeping with the Victory Garden theme, John Murphy, Executive Director of the foundation, says the campaign will be kicked off during the upcoming Veteran’s Day holiday weekend.  The Gala Charity Dinner and program will be held on Monday, Nov. 12, 2018 from 5:30 – 8:00 PM at The Club at Prescott Lakes.  One of the highlights of the event is a “farm to table” dinner prepared by the club’s renowned chef, Matt Smith.

The program also features a key note address by legendary gardener Daniel Blake.  Blake has been recognized by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for teaching tens of thousands of people how to successfully grow nutritious food in their own home gardens.  He will be joined by Prescott resident, Dr. Stephen Brown, author of the book, Complex Medicine, Simple Wisdom.  His book and his work focus on his “longevity formula” that discusses the importance of getting nutrients from naturally occurring foods.

Murphy will share his vision on how more people can hope to be 100 years old, or more, with health and vitality.  According to Murphy, achieving a balanced life is based on seven key areas; fitness, nutrition, physical, mental, spiritual, financial, environmental, social connection.  Murphy believes the Victory Garden program is a great way to encourage people to improve in many of these areas.

The program is being co-sponsored by; Watters Garden Center, The Club At Prescott Lakes, Silver Sands Recovery Center and Olsen’s For Healthy Animals.  Proceeds from the event will support; B Organic Farms, Eco Farms, Prescott Lakes Victory Garden and the Gardeners of Destiny program.

Seating at the banquet is limited.  Tickets cost $100.  Reservations can be made by calling John Murphy, 908-309-7046 or via email at: info@make100healthy.com.  Make 100 Healthy Foundation is a 501©3 charity.  Your donation is tax deductible and sponsorships are still available.
