Michael A. Beatty, president of Prescott Investor Services, Inc., was named one of five 2017 Distinguished Alumni during Homecoming activities at Northern Arizona University (NAU), October 27-28.
Beatty received the Jeff Ferris Volunteer of the Year award from NAU President Rita Cheng.
Beatty, more commonly known as “Mike” by area residents, was selected because of his years of volunteer service to the NAU Foundation and its Investment Committee, the NAU Alumni Board, and the NAU College of Behavioral and Social Science Advancement Committee. He is an officer in the Prescott Area Alumni Chapter.
Beatty also was cited because of his many volunteer activities in the Greater Prescott area. Those include being a member of the Prescott Sunrise Lions Club, a Trustee for the Yavapai Regional Medical Center, a recent Vice President of the Desert Southwest Chapter- Alzheimer’s Association, and a supporter of the Yavapai Big Brothers, Big Sisters organization. He serves as a financial consultant to the Gardner Family Teacher Scholarship Endowment.
Beatty co-founded his firm in 1989, when he left a vice presidency of a regional investment banking firm in Phoenix and relocated to Prescott. His firm now manages investments for high-net worth individuals and small institutions. His clients are scattered across the country. He even has some international clients.
Beatty is well-known as an international lecturer about investment strategies. In fact, since 1991, he has served as a consultant about business privatization and investment to government and business officials in the Czech Republic.
