Prescott Chorale Presents, under the baton of Artistic Director Dennis Houser

Pre-concert talk at 2:00pm
Please plan to join the Prescott Chorale on Saturday, October 6, 2:30pm as they perform Johann Sebastian Bach’s Magnificat in d with guest soloists and a full Baroque orchestra with harpsichord. The afternoon will feature the new Arizona Philharmonic Orchestra, playing Bach’s Brandenberg Concerto #1. The concert takes place at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 2000 Shepherds Lane, Prescott. Concert begins at 2:30 pm, with pre-concert talk 30 minutes before the performance. Tickets are $21 for adults, $5 for students and free for children. Season tickets are available at a 10% savings.  Tickets are available at www.prescottchorale.org.
In addition to the Magnificant, the program will feature Ich lasse dich nicht, du segnest mich denn BWV Anh.159, one of Bach’s most famous motets for double chorus. Johann Sebastian Bach’s Magnificat, BWV 243, composed in 1723, is a musical setting of the biblical canticle Magnificat. It is scored for five vocal parts (two sopranos, alto, tenor and bass), and a Baroque orchestra including trumpets and timpani. It is the first major liturgical composition on a Latin text by Bach. It is one of Bach’s most popular vocal works.
As one of the musical organizations collaborating with the Arizona Philharmonic Orchestra in their debut season, Prescott Chorale is excited to share its October performance with this outstanding addition to our local music world. The AZ Philharmonic will be playing Bach’s Brandenberg Concerto #1, noted for its celebratory style and dance-like movements.
The Prescott Chorale is also pleased to welcome five talented young performers who will: Michael Fausto, Tenor;  Mary Kray, Mezzo-soprano; Melanie McCally, Alto; Talen Swan, Bass and Mariana Velasco, Soprano, a past recipient of a Prescott Chorale Young Artist Scholarship on 2017.
The mission of Prescott Chorale is to perform choral music of exceptional quality in a highly professional manner, emphasizing Masterworks which inspire, challenge, entertain, and educate our singers and our audiences. Prescott Chorale presented our first season, 2014-2015 to rave reviews following a stellar performance of the Duruflé Requiem, accompanied by renowned organist Ty Woodward
Dennis Houser, Prescott Chorale Musical Director has a career that spans over 55 years of singing, teaching and conducting. Dennis is no stranger to the stage, be it here in Prescott, California, Europe, South America, or the Far East. He has conducted the Master Chorale of Yavapai College, the Yavapai College Chamber Singers and the Camerata Singers of Prescott. He is the Choirmaster of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Prescott.
