Artistic Director Dennis Houser. A pre-concert talk takes place 30 minutes before the performances. On Saturday, June 9, the Prescott Chorale, under the direction of Dennis Houser will reprise its performance of the Messe in d minor-1751 by Johan Adolf Hasse, first presented in October 2016 at St. Luke’s and Immaculate Conception Catholic Parish in Cottonwood.
The Return To Dresden concert will take place at 2:30pm at St Luke’s Episcopal Church in Prescott. Following the concert, the Prescott Chorale will be taking this piece on tour to Berlin, Dresden, Prague and Wroclaw, June 17-28. Join them as they pack their bags for a unique trip to the birthplace of the Messe, with a stop in Leipzig to perform works by Johann Sebastian Bach at the Thomaskirche (St. Thomas Church), Bach’s musical home for many years. Many of Johan Adolf Hasse’s compositions were lost in the firebombing of Dresden, first in 1763, and later by the Allies at the end of World War II. At the Return To Dresden concert you will hear the result of David Wilson’s thirty-year quest to rediscover the music of one of the greatest composers of the 18th century: Johann Adolf Hasse.
