On Friday, November 10, the superbly talented actor/musician/ storyteller Ronny Cox, who has been consistently active in Hollywood for over 40 years, comes to the Historic Elks Theater for an evening of “easygoing amiability and unforced charisma” (The Boston Globe). With the gift of a consummate storyteller, he shares funny, sad and tender moments. Enhancing these great stories is the music provided by Ronny and his band of world-class, virtuoso musicians.  Tickets are $30, $25 for seniors and veterans, and are available at the Elks Box Office, 777-1370 or www.prescottelkstheater.com
“For more than two hours, Cox held his audience spellbound, as every song captured our imaginations.” CEDAR RAPIDS GAZETTE
With a career that spans over a hundred and twenty-five films and television shows, Ronny Cox is often ironically identified with the villains he has played in movies like TOTAL RECALL, ROBOCOP and the ruthless politician in the hit science fiction TV series STARGATE.  Ronny’s first film… his first time acting in front of a camera was as the guitarist in the famous “dueling banjos” scene in DELIVERANCE.  His second big film was BOUND FOR GLORY, Hal Ashby’s film about Woody Guthrie.

“A superb performer, he knows how to win an audience… a true entertainer.”
  Rich Warren, WFMT, Chicago
Ronny Cox is an artist who wears a variety of hats — from actor to musician to family man — but if there is one common thread that pulls it all together it’s the “real” person that wears each hat and the warmth his craft brings to anyone exposed to his many talents. Born in Cloudcroft, New Mexico, Ronny received positive reviews in his first film role for his portrayal of ill-fated businessman “Drew Ballinger” in the terrifying backwoods thriller Deliverance with Cox featured in the “Dueling Banjos” sequence of the film. Cox starred alongside Eddie Murphy in the mega-hit Beverly Hills Cop and its sequel Beverly Hills Cop II as well as the futuristic sci-fi/action films RoboCop and Total Recall.  Cox has continued to remain busy with more recent performances in “True Detective”, “Stargate SG-1″ “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” and the popular “Dexter” and “Desperate Housewives”. The truth is that Ronny has been writing songs and telling stories for over four decades. Only in the last 10 years has the world seen him evolve from being an “actor who sings” into knowing him as a “singer who happens to have a pretty fair career acting.”
The Folk Sessions may well be one of the most eclectic radio shows in America. Broadcast throughout Central & Northern Arizona for over 14 years on the KJAZZ Radio Network and Prescott Public Radio, part of the Arizona Community Radio Network. The Folk Sessions has established a loyal following, producing quality radio programs and live concerts.
