The University of Arizona Cooperative Extension is excited to announce a series of canning classes and hands-on workshops. Family, Consumer and Health Sciences programs are offering a home canning series in Prescott and are open to community members. The series begins with an introduction to home canning class that covers canning basics such as appropriate canning methods for different food items, proper packing and headspace, altitude adjustments, processing times and more.
Participants to this class will receive a print copy of Complete Guide to Home Canning (196-page, four-color throughout, spiral-bound resource book). The first class is required to attend the two subsequent hands-on canning classes focusing on canning tomatoes and fruit. Attendees of the hands-on workshops will learn even more tips and practical information about canning these specific foods and will prepare and pack their own jar to take home. Pre-registration is required. The cost for each class is $25.00 each and is non-refundable.
Starting Thursday, September 14, 2017 and occurring every Thursday evening 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm throughout the rest of September. Classes will be held at the Yavapai County Cooperative Extension office located at 840 Rodeo Drive, Building C, Prescott, AZ 86305.
