The Street Maintenance Division is preparing to respond to the approaching winter storm. According to the National Weather Service, the storm will arrive between 2:00 and 5:00 p.m. today, February 27. Crews will respond when the storm arrives. The forecast predicts up to 3 inches to 6,000 feet, and 3 to 7 inches above 6,000 feet.
Residents are reminded to prepare for possible unfavorable road conditions this afternoon and into tomorrow. Avoid any unnecessary driving. Per City Code, snow removal on sidewalks is the responsibility of the adjacent property owner.
Streets are plowed in order of priority, with major roads first, and these priority streets are plowed continuously until they remain passable for public safety vehicles and other traffic. This means that depending on the storm’s duration and intensity, residential (local) streets may not be plowed for a day or two after the storm has ended.
